These 10 solar-powered row houses in Örebro are 150 square meter flats designed for growing families. Both the roof and the facade of the flats are covered in a continuous run of dark silver standing seam steel. Alternating flats are additionally clad in wood lattice mounted to the steel in order to articulate the individual units, as well as create a warm texture variation in the facade and to create the possibility for plants to climb vertically. In the interior there are 4 glass doors to a terrace, big windows and French balconies that fill the open interior with sunlight. A large kitchen with a raised bar is open and adjacent to the living area but is contained enough to feel like it has its own space separate from the dining table. The living room is designed so that the sofa is not visible from the outside while most of the room is directly connected to the terrace which makes the room feel comfortable and safe but still light and connected. A cantilevered staircase of folded steel is the only sign that the buildings are produced in factory and composed of prefabricated modules.
